FORT STEWART, Ga. - Three creative teens were formally recognized as film winners in the 2010-2011 Digital Arts Festival, sponsored by Boys and Girls Clubs of America, May 13, at the Fort Stewart Youth Center. Stewart teens submitted computer generated art with a film entitled "The Starring Contest" and won.
This annual festival showcases digitally-created art and winners are selected based on music, or movie making, photo illustration and graphic design.
"We are so proud of these boys and this is something that they can place on their resume," youth center computer lab technician Luis Camacho said.
The film winners, 13-year-olds Tyquez Hampton and Tyler Haller, along with twelve-year-old Andrew Tate each received a $50 Best Buy gift card for their work on the one minute film.
"It means a lot to me for winning because I had no idea that the film was being submitted," Tyler Haller said.
"I'm very proud of him, parent and Family Member Kandy Haller said. "When I was young I joined the local youth center and it helped me to stay out of trouble and learn new things."
"Kids do more than get into trouble," said Maria Boiza, Child Youth and School Services Program Operations Specialist. "We still have some good kids out here and this award shows just that."
The winning film can be viewed online at www.bgca.org/digitalart along with winners from photo, design and music tech categories.
