'Saber' Squadron Soldiers receive combat awards

CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq - Lt. Col. Cameron Cantlon, an Ettrick, Wis., native and commander of 6th "Saber" Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, United States Division - Center congratulates Spc. Christian Cowan, a combat medic with A Troop and native of Van Buren, Ark. after awarding him the Combat Medical Badge during a ceremony April 29, 2011 at Camp Liberty, Iraq. The badge, created in 1945 by the War Department, is awarded to Army medics who perform medical duties while engaged by the enemy.
