We finally got the most wanted terrorist in the world. Hurray for America and primarily the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, and their Families.
It's been almost ten years since 9-11 and the man-hunt for the person most responsible for the senseless and unprovoked attack on innocent people and those individuals whose job it is to protect us, firefighters and policemen, has finally ended. I guess this must mean the "War on Terror" and terrorism in general is over or cut to the minimum' No. Not by a long shot.
Osama Bin Laden, being the evil and cold-hearted person he was, wasn't the only compelling and charismatic figure in the terrorist world. Others are waiting to lead those who hate America and the freedom it stands for.
In the true Muslim world and for true faithful followers of Islam and the Koran, Bin Laden was nothing but a controversial figure and murderer. He hated moderate Muslims almost as much as he hated the West.
It is not a very widely known fact, but Bin Laden and al Qaeda were responsible for the death of more Muslims than of Americans or any other nationality. So when we see and hear the crowds chanting "USA, USA," we should take pride in our country and be thankful for the resolve of our elected leaders, military and our intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
But we must also be very mindful there are individual terrorist and terrorist groups, both homegrown and in other countries, that will carry on the Bin Laden legacy. Many will be inspired by Bin Laden and his death will only motivate current and future terrorists and terrorist acts all over the world.
We must, as representatives of the U.S. government and our military, maintain our constant vigilance at every moment of every day. There is no guarantee there will be another terrorist act the size and magnitude of 9-11, but there is a guarantee terrorist will try. The killing of Bin Laden will only instill additional motivation.
Please never let your guard down and always be suspicious of any unusual activity wherever you are.
