ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - Col. Orlando Ortiz, Aberdeen Proving Ground garrison and deputy installation commander, signed proclamations that recognized April as Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
The event took place April 4 in the garrison headquarters conference room and was attended by ACS Family Advocacy's Aida Rivera, who coordinated the event.
Guests included Jerry Ryerson, director of the Harford County Department of Social Services; Luisa
Caiazzo-Nutter, executive director of SARC and Stuart Bokser, clinical director of the Army Substance Abuse Program, as well as representatives of Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Army Community Service and the Directorate of Emergency Services.
"We're proud of how we live, work and play on APG," Ortiz said, "but we would be remiss if
we did not apprise every one of the available resources."
April Child Abuse Prevention Month Events: April 5-30, Information table at Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic; April 6-7, Child Safety presentations at the Aberdeen North/Aberdeen South (Edgewood) Child Development Centers; April 15, Information Table at Aberdeen South (Edgewood) Recreation Center, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; April 16, Information Table at the Post Exchange, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
