Philippine president attends joint military demonstration during Balikatan

President of the Republic of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III (right) and Lt. Gen. Francis J. Wiercinski, U.S. Army Pacific commanding general, attend a joint military demonstration April 13 involving the armed forces of the U.S. and Philippines at Fort Magsaysay, Philippines. The demonstration is part of Balikatan 2011, an annual joint military exercise between the U.S. and the Republic of the Philippines. USARPAC directs Balikatan side-by-side with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to develop interoperability and cooperation. The exercise hones the armed forces\' ability to quickly provide relief and assistance in the event of a natural disaster or other crises that threaten public safety and health.
