YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea - The annual 2011 Eighth Army Army Family Action Plan Conference was held in the Dragon Hill Lodge here April 3 - 7.

During the conference, troops, civilians and family members were put into four working groups to address various issues.

The groups chose two issues each and presented them to the attendees, including Eighth Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. John D. Johnson and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert A. Winzenried, command sergeant major for United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, U.S. Forces Korea and Eighth Army.

"You don't have to wait for AFAP to put some of these things to move forward. You can use your chain of command. You can use various other groups out there," said Johnson. "But certainly, if you get an opportunity for an AFAP, please bring it on the table, because you can really make a difference."

The top five issues presented for the conference were vocational and professional certification programs for Army families in Korea; emergency travel for service members and families stationed overseas; Rosetta Stone online training for Army family members; Department of Defense Dependent Schools Korea-wide Middle School athletics; and Permanent Change of Station information for service members.
