FORT LEE, Va., (Feb. 25, 2011) - Senior Army food service advisors came together here to discuss how to improve support to the force and quality of life for the Soldiers.
This was the first time such a meeting was convened, and the idea was put into action by Chief Warrant Officer 4 Georgene Davis, the Army Food Advisor.
"This meeting was for information sharing and brainstorming," Davis said. "I felt we needed to come together and discuss the important issues we are currently facing and develop solutions."
Despite the time difference, representatives from Germany and Korea participated via teleconference to demonstrate the importance of the meeting.
Subjects covered during the afternoon meeting included career progression for 92G (food service specialist), field feeding equipment, manpower and training improvements.
"All the tools to succeed are out there" Sgt. Maj. Andrew McCaughey, Training Department sergeant major, Joint Culinary Center of Excellence, Quartermaster School said.
One goal of the meeting was to identify areas for concentration and develop courses of action for the future.
"We will take all the items discussed and draft recommendations on how to solve them," Davis said. "We have plenty of official publications and experience to reference in order to achieve this goal."
Davis stated that this may have been the first meeting, but it won't be the last. Her vision is to host quarterly meetings to continue to build on the positive foundation established.
