FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas - Sharing the command's priorities and successes were among the topics discussed by the Army Contracting Command executive director during a visit here March 16 and 17.

Jeffrey P. Parsons visited the Mission and Installation Contracting Command over the two-day period where he discussed various issues with MICC leadership, visited the future home of the MICC and educated members about the ACC mission during an afternoon town hall meeting.

He recognized the hard work by all in successfully bringing three contracting headquarters to full operational capacity in less than two years. He also called for continued support in ensuring that our new Soldiers and interns coming into the contracting career filed receive that same commitment to develop their contracting skills.

Among other discussions between Mr. Parsons and Brig. Gen. Stephen B. Leisenring, the MICC commanding general, were the progress of standing up intermediate level commands and an update on the award of follow-on contracts for the Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Parsons also had the opportunity to view ongoing renovations of the historic Long Barracks during a tour. Members of the MICC are projected to move into the Long Barracks in early 2012 following the completion of renovations.

The MICC is responsible for planning, integrating, awarding and administering contracts in support of Army commands, direct reporting units, U.S. Army North and other organizations to provide the best value for the mission, Soldiers and their families.
