FORT STEWART, Ga. - Invitations are extended now for a Fort Stewart golf league that will begin April 5, with a kick off scramble followed by a nine hole blitz on each Tuesday thereafter.

The purpose of the league is to increase play at Taylor's Creek Golf Course, to have fun, and to promote camaraderie among friends and co-workers. The league is open to all active duty military, DOD civilians, contractors, retirees and Family Members.

Teams will play weekly for eight straight weeks leading up to the grand finale May 31. On that day, the team with the most participants will be awarded a prize, so start organizing your team today.

The league entry fee to join is $20 and includes the cost of greens, golf cart fees, a small bucket of range balls, and prizes.

Tee times will begin at 4 p.m., with the last tee time ending at 5:15 p.m.

Each member's score will be posted in the program sheet after each round. Scores are then calculated for the next event date.

Winning points are then determined by the amount of points earned. Players must have enough points on record in order to participate in the grand finale.

Team results will be posted on the stewartmwr.com Web site and at the Taylors Creek clubhouse.

"The golf league will benefit many participants, including those in the President's Challenge," said Derrick Taylor, civilian and current member of Combined Taylors Creek golf course and Hunter Club golf council. "They can log in their time spent into the activity tracker and get points for all their exercise."

"What a better way to release stress and enjoy the game of golf," said Taylor.

"We wanted to form a mix of competitive play and camaraderie," said Tommie McArthur, Stewart-Hunter golf course manager. "We want folks to leave their office after a long hard day and come out and play. We work hard, and we play hard," said McArthur.

Anyone interested in registering their team should contact Derrick Taylor at 912-435-0319.
