The Old Guard's Alpha Co., 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment will fire "Brown Bess Muskets" loaded with black powder in support of the celebration of George Washington's 277th birthday at Mount Vernon on Presidents' Day. Admission is FREE on Presidents' Day Feb. 21, 2011!

The Soldiers will also provide ceremonial support for the Armed Forces Full Honor Wreath Ceremony in honor of our first President.

The Wreath laying ceremony will be at 10 a.m., and a tactical and musical demonstration by The Old Guard's "Commander in Chief's Guard" and The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps will be at 11 a.m.

The Commander in Chief's Guard - members of Co. A, 4th Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) - wear Revolutionary War-era uniforms patterned after Gen. George Washington's Continental Army and demonstrate the weapons and tactics of the time.

The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps perform in uniforms patterned after those worn by the musicians of Gen. George Washington's Continental Army. Military musicians of the period wore the reverse colors of the regiments to which they were assigned.
