Years of hard work paid off for a Soldier with the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region and the U.S. Military District of Washington during his college graduation ceremony Feb. 15 at Fort McNair. Staff Sgt. John J. Monzillo was congratulated on attaining a BA in Psychology by friends, co-workers and Maj. Gen. Karl R. Horst, JFHQ NCR/MDW commanding general.
Monzillo said he had been working on his degree while in the Army for the past five years, and has paid all of the tuition through the Army Tuition Assistance program.
"Now I am looking at getting a masters degree and possibly working in the mental health counseling field some day," says Monzillo. "I have 13 years in the Army as a 92 Yankee (Logistics) and I don't plan on making a career change within the Army, but I am looking at a second, different career after I retire someday."
Monzillo works with the Army Air Operations Group, a major subordinate command to JFHQ NCR/MDW at Fort McNair.
