DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. - The Detroit Arsenal employees donated more than $450,000 dollars during this year's Combined Federal Campaign for the Southeast Michigan Area topping the organization's goal by nearly 20 percent.

The campaign, which ran from Oct. 13 - Dec. 3, 2010, was the most successful ever for the Detroit Arsenal by overall contribution and by exceeding the organization's goal, raising a total of $454,870.

"Credit goes to all canvassers and CFC team members for this year's success," said Alan Parks, deputy garrison manager. "But much of the success for this year's campaign goes to Adrianne McLarahmore (CFC chairperson for the Detroit Arsenal). Her leadership, direction and training were key to this year's success."

McLarahmore reviewed previous year's contributions to determine where they were shortfalls and made adjustments where needed. Her team also created a video based on this year's theme of "iCare" using employees and leadership from the arsenal to help get the giving message out in a fresh new way.

"I had a wonderful group of people helping with this campaign," said McLarahmore. "The key canvassers and workers volunteered many hours to ensure the campaign's success. I would especially like to thank my CFC team members, Stacy Bell, Mary Klammer and Patricia Tobianski. We couldn't have done this well as an organization without their efforts."

The check was ceremoniously presented to Michelle Rhodes, executive director of the Detroit Federal Executive Board and member of the Local Federal Coordinating Committee for the 2010 Southeastern Michigan Area CFC, in a ceremony at the Detroit Arsenal Jan 27. During the event, workers and key canvassers were also presented Two-Star notes from Maj. Gen. Kurt Stein, commanding general, TACOM Life Cycle Management Command, and iCare certificates were presented by Col. Jeanne Hooper, chief of staff, TACOM LCMC and Parks. Parks also took the opportunity to recognize McLarahmore's efforts at the end of the ceremony by presenting her with the Commander's Award for Civilian Service.

"The generosity of the people at the Detroit Arsenal is phenomenal," said Rhodes. "Many local families and Army families will benefit from the contributions you (the Detroit Arsenal employees) have made."

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. The CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with campaigns throughout the country and internationally to help to raise millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations and provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
