As one of the newest members of the contingency contracting noncommissioned officer corps, Staff Sgt. Brian S. Baugh is making a huge impact during his first contracting assignment as part of the 408th Contracting Support Brigade, Army Contracting Command-Kuwait.
Baugh's support of U.S. Army Central Command security cooperation engagement missions and exercises are a direct reflection of ACC-KU's organizational success and a testament to his knowledge and skills in military contracting. He quickly became a force multiplier executing in excess of $5 million of total contracts in support of the warfighter which had a positive impact for over 124,000 personnel's quality of life.
The Knoxville, Tenn., native first entered the Army in 2000 as a M1A1 Tank crew member. Ten years later, Baugh started thinking about life after the military.
"I reclassified to 51C in April 2010. While serving on recruiting duty, I realized the importance of having a marketable skill set once my military career was over. Having grown up around business and already pursuing a degree in business management, 51C was a perfect fit. It provides a valuable skill set for the future and provided an enjoyable position with a more business focused career," said Baugh. "Switching careers was a family decision my wife Ashley and I made. I could not have done it without her support and she agreed that it would provide the best future for us in the long run."
"I have had several mentors since entering into this MOS (military occupations specialist) I have been assisted by all my contracting fellow contracting professionals. One of the most important things I have learned is that "Every contract is one modification from perfection," Baugh said.
