FORT SILL, Okla.-- The U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence senior Army National Guard adviser has been selected for promotion to brigadier general.
Col. Glen Moore, of Broken Arrow, Okla., is the senior Army National Guard officer at Fort Sill and advises Maj. Gen. David Halverson, FCOE and Fort Sill commanding general, on the training and readiness of Guard field artillery units here.
A career Soldier, Moore enlisted in the Guard in Tulsa, Okla., and attended basic training and advanced individual training at Fort Sill in 1980. He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1982. He graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1985.
Moore has held virtually every position a field artillery Soldier can have. In units throughout the Oklahoma National Guard, he has been a fire direction officer, a battery commander, a counter-fire and operations officer at the brigade level, an executive officer and battalion commander. Moore served as the Joint Force Headquarters J5/7, responsible for strategic planning and joint training for the Oklahoma National Guard. In 2007, Moore took command of the 45th Fires Brigade and deployed with the brigade in Aug. 2008. He has been in his current position since July.
While Moore was in the Oklahoma Army National Guard as a traditional Soldier, he also served 23 years in his civilian job as a police officer in Tulsa.
