Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Sarah and I extend our warmest greetings to each one of you and your families. The holiday season is a special time for the Lynch household and is an occasion to spend extra time with family and friends, reflect on the past year, and anticipate the opportunities that lie ahead.

For our Soldiers deployed, I offer my sincere appreciation for your efforts in contributing to safety, security, and prosperity around the world. You are proof the dedication, professionalism, and operational excellence of the U.S. Army are unparalleled.

This is one season when people are thinking more of others so let us be extra vigilant to hazards around us and watch out for each other. Please be careful when driving in ice and snow and take extra precautions with furnaces, space heaters, stoves, and fireplaces. Decorating homes is a long-standing tradition around the holiday season. These same decorations may increase your chances of fire based on data from the National Fire Protection Association and the U.S. Fire Administration http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/citizens/focus/holiday.shtm.

This is one of the biggest and busiest travel seasons -- the Travel Risk Planning System (TRiPs) at http://www.imcom.army.mil/hq/officecom/staff/safety/, is a useful tool to help identify traveling risks over the holidays as well as reduce or eliminate the chance of an accident while traveling over the holidays.

December is National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month. Stay mindful of the dangers in consuming too much alcohol - don't drink or drive or get in a car or ride a motorcycle with someone who has been drinking.

On behalf of Sarah and I, CSM Ciotola and his wife Beth, and the entire command leadership team, you have our sincerest appreciation for your dedicated service and our warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

Support and Defend!
