FORT EUSTIS, Va. (Dec. 7, 2010) -- The General Frank S. Besson, Jr., LSV-1, 24th Transportation Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade, is scheduled to set sail Thursday at 11 a.m. from 3rd Port to Penn's Landing, Philadelphia, to conduct crew training and licensing. The vessel will make a port call in the vicinity of Philadelphia during the annual Army - Navy college football game showing support for the Army while docked in the area of the stadium.

"The primary mission of the LSV-1 is to provide off-loading of joint military equipment during yearly Joint Logistics Over The Shore exercises that enable us to successfully conduct real world missions such as Operation Unified Response in Haiti," said Chief Warrant Officer John Stauffer, vessel master of the LSV-1.

Tours of the General Frank S. Besson, Jr. will be conducted at Penn's Landing Dec. 10, from noon to 4 p.m. and Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tours are free and open to the public.

The 7th Sustainment Brigade provides logistical support anywhere, at any time, in any environment. Elements of the brigade's six battalions and their companies are deployed at any given time supporting a number of global missions to include Kuwait, U.S. Army South, Iraq and Afghanistan.
