The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's 598th Transportation Brigade and the 836th Transportation Battalion were recognized Nov 21 with the SDDC-level Chief of Staff, Army, Supply Excellence Award.

The CSASEA award recognizes supply excellence at the various Army unit and organizational levels.

Col. William Moseley, 598th commander at Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and Lt. Col. Greg Bunn, 836th commander at Yokohama, Japan, accepted the awards on behalf of their units during a special presentation at the SDDC Fall Commanders Conference for best Table of Distribution Allowance Property Book and TDA Unit Levels respectively.

According to SDDC's Deputy, Chief of Staff for Personnel and Logistics, both the brigade and battalion implemented an aggressive Command Supply Discipline Program during 2010 using existing personnel and resources. They both established and maintained a culture of supply discipline and property accountability while enhancing their unit's overall logistical readiness and improved overall public awareness of supply and of their supply system.

Both units will compete for the Army-level Chief of Staff, Army, Supply Excellence Award Competition with the results expected to be released April 2011.

SDDC is the Army Service Component Command of USTRANSCOM and provides expeditionary and sustained end-to-end deployment and distribution to meet the Nation's objectives. With more than 4,600 people worldwide, SDDC's headquarters recently relocated to its new home at Scott Air Force Base completing the actions mandated by BRAC 2005.
