RODRIGUEZ LIVE FIRE COMPLEX, South Korea - The new Eighth Army commanding general met with his troops in the field here for the first time Nov. 17 during exercise Autumn Breeze 2010.
Lt. Gen. John D. Johnson, who assumed command of the top U.S. Army formation in South Korea Nov. 9, spent several hours greeting Soldiers and civilians who deployed for the week-long exercise and observed operations in the unit's new mobile command post.
Eighth Army is transforming from an Army Service Component Command to a field army, capable of commanding multiple U.S. and multi-national corps in a joint and combined fight.
To support this transformation, Eighth Army set up its mobile command post on this live-fire training range a short distance from the world's most heavily armed border.
