FORT RUCKER, Ala. -- The Army Aviation Association of America and 1st Battalion, 14th Aviation Regiment conducted the 19th annual Chili Cook-off at the Festival Fields Nov. 6.

Soldiers, Families and members of the local communities were able to sample various chili recipes by purchasing tickets for $1 each. The various chili booths were made by units from the post and local area businesses. All the money raised by the cook-off went to help pay for AAAA scholarships, said Maj. Peter Velesky, 1st Bn., 14th Avn. Regt. executive officer.

"This is a great cause and it's a lot of fun for the post and the community," he said.

There were 17 teams who prepared about 85 gallons of chili for the event, but only one could walk away with the "Best Tasting" prize. That went to Century 21 of Enterprise, Velesky said.

The prize for "Best in Show" and "People's Choice" went to URS for its chili and theme, Pirates of the Chili-Bean.
