REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- The U.S. Army Security Assistance Command recently participated in the Army Ten Miler and the 56th Association of the United States Army's annual meeting.

USASAC was part of the AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter's "Team Alabama" Hooah Tent at the 26th Army Ten Miler Oct. 24 for the first time in organization history.

The Hooah Tent Zone is where U.S. Army units promote their commands and "Hooah Spirit" through displays. All divisions of the U.S. Army, including Active Duty, National Guard and Army Reserve are represented.

The "Team Alabama' Hooah Tent provided refreshments and served BBQ sandwiches for lunch. Organizations from around Redstone Arsenal and Fort Rucker showcased their missions to the thousands of attendees.

Brig. Gen. Christopher Tucker, USASAC commander; Capt. Abraham Sweeney, aide to the commander; and Sgt. Maj. William Kaundart ran in the Army Ten Miler race.

USASAC went on to participate in the 56th AUSA annual meeting at the Washington D.C. Convention Center Oct. 25-27.

USASAC was part of the U.S. Army Materiel Command's booth which showcased a wide variety of improvements and emerging technologies in logistics and acquisition.

On Oct. 26, the AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter hosted a "Southern Hospitality Open House" which featured the 82nd Airborne Division's All-American Chorus. The event also highlighted the NCO and Soldier of the Year recipients, the DA Civilian of the Year, the 1st Sgt. John Ordway Leadership Awardees and Medal of Honor recipient Sammy L. Davis.

A surprise visit was made by the next Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta who is scheduled to receive his medal Nov. 16.

Attendees included Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, Lt. Gen. James Pillsbury, Maj. Gen. Jim Rogers, Brig. Gen. Kurt S. Story and Brig. Gen. Christopher Tucker.
