WASHINGTON -- The Association of the United States Army presented its Aberdeen Chapter with the Best Chapter in its size category Monday, Oct. 25 in Washington, D.C.

Team APG representatives received the award before a crowd of about 2,500 people at the annual meeting opening ceremony at the Washington Convention Center.

"This is a great accomplishment for the Aberdeen AUSA chapter and for Team APG," said APG Commanding General Maj. Gen. Nick Justice. "As APG transforms into the Army's center of gravity for science, technology and testing, we look forward to growing our partnership with AUSA."

The Base Realignment and Closure process is bringing more than 8,000 civilian jobs to the installation. More than $1.4 billion in construction is ongoing.

The Aberdeen Chapter competed for best overall chapter in the 250 to 499 member category.

"It was such an honor," said Chapter President Mary Jane Jernigan. "It's onward and upward from here."
