Ferguson was minutes away from facing a board of sergeants major assembled for the board appearance event of the 2010 Department of the Army Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year "Best Warrior" Competition.  Best Warrior annually tests the physical and mental capacities of 24 Soldiers and NCOs in a competition that features Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills and the Army Physical Fitness Test.
