FORT BELVOIR, Va. - Iraq War veteran retiree Staff Sgt. Dale Beatty did not let the fact that he is a double amputee slow him down last Thursday as he played in the first Dave Mason Feelin' Alright Golf Classic Thursday on Fort Belvoir Golf Course.

"This is a great golf course, it's playing well and the people participating here are doing so for all the right reasons. We are making connections, having a great time and supporting one another's endeavors for the greater good of all veterans," Beatty said.

Bonds were formed and renewed at the day-long event that was filled with fun and laughter as golfers of all ages and abilities took to the course on a made for playing day.

"This is a beautiful day to be here and it's a fantastic turnout. We hope that this event grows and because of it, veterans will benefit," Cathie Lechareas, event organizer and executive director of the Center for American Military Music Opportunities, said.

The event, held to benefit and showcase the talented performers from CAMMO, delivered just that as Air Force veteran Vicki Golding sang sultry songs, and Dale Beatty joined in on drums before legendary musician and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist, songwriter and singer Dave Mason rocked the Fort Belvoir Golf clubhouse into the night.
