FORT RUCKER, Ala. -- People looking for a night of laughter and enjoyment can watch two comedians perform at The Landing Oct. 15, beginning at 8 p.m.
The Comedy Live at Rucker show, hosted by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, features comedians Jay Black and Steve Caouette, who have both have been on David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel and Showtime.
"We're excited to bring these talented comedians to Fort Rucker," said Evy Bludsworth, DFMWR deputy director. "Everyone needs to be able to laugh and enjoy oneself and we hope you have an opportunity to do so at Comedy Live."
Jay Black said he was excited to perform for the military Families at Fort Rucker.
"I could never do what our troops do," Black said. "To be able to give something back to them - even if it's just a few hours of entertainment on a Friday night - is an honor."
Black got interested in comedy when he was 6 years old while watching Bill Cosby and the reaction that the comedian had on his dad and how he laughed.
"Now, my dad is an old school dad. He shows emotions like a Vulcan: once every seven years he'll smile," Black said. "So seeing him laugh made a huge impression on me, one that never quite went away."
Patrons are encouraged to come early, enjoy dinner at The Landing Zone and then head down the hallway to The Landing's Ballroom for the comedy show, said Bludsworth. This show is recommended for patrons ages 18 and over. After the comedy show, patrons can walk down to The Landing Zone and also enjoy musical performances by Corduroy Blues.
"DFMWR will continue to look for new types of entertainment that can be enjoyed by all," Bludsworth added. "We are now working with the Army Entertainment to help us put together a dinner theater utilizing anyone on Fort Rucker who would like to try their hand at acting."
Comedy Live tickets will be on sale for $10 at the door or can be purchased in advance at DFMWR, Bldg. 5700, Suite 350.
