Remembering that day

Col. Vann Smiley, U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr commander, and USAG Grafenwoehr's Command Sgt. Maj. William Berrios place a wreath during the Patriot Day celebration at the 9/11 Memorial on Rose Barracks, Sept. 10. More than 70 Soldiers and community members attended the event. 

The placard at the memorial reads: 
"In memory of those who lost their lives on 11 September 2001 - the day freedom and democracy came under attack. The tragic events of that day demonstrate the triumph and resolve of the human spirit."
