2010 U.S. Army Championship Combatives Tournament registration ongoing

FORT BENNING, Ga. - Registration is ongoing for the 2010 U.S. Army Championship Combatives Tournament. The tournament will take place at the Paul R. Smith Fitness Center Oct. 1-3, 2010, and is hosted by the Maneuver Center of Excellence and the U.S Army Combatives School. The tournament showcases the professionalism and talent of the U.S. Soldier and sharpens warrior skills, demonstrates the Warrior Ethos, determines the Army's best fighters, and furthers the Warrior mindset across the Army.

The tournament will follow a graduated set of rules and will open with basic rules bouts on Oct. 1 and progress to advanced rules bouts for the championship round Oct. 3.

The Tournament is open to all Soldiers with any level of Combatives experience; no levels certification is necessary. Other services are allowed to compete if they are attached to an Army unit, such as an Air Force Combat Controllers attached to an Army unit. Installations or Divisions are encouraged to send one team made up of 16 Soldiers, two per weight class. Individual competitors are also invited to compete.

Soldiers interested in competing or attending should contact their local Combatives Master Trainer or visit the U.S. Army Combatives School website at: https://www.benning.army.mil/combatives/index.htm to register. Competitors must bring a copy of their PHA completed within the last 360 days of the time of registration in order to compete. Weigh-ins will take place and late registrations will be accepted at 8 a.m., Sept. 30 at Briant Wells Gym on post.
