SDDC deputy commander nominated for promotion to brigadier general

The Office of the Army Chief of Staff announced Friday Col. Paul C. Hurley, Jr., deputy commander and director of operations for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.

As deputy commanding general, he is responsible for running SDDC's joint, global distribution of Department of Defense surface cargoes. Additionally, Hurley will direct SDDC terminal unit locations around the world. These responsibilities impact Joint Service force deployment and logistics operations.

SDDC is the Army component of USTRANSCOM and responsible for strategic surface transportation and distribution for the Department of Defense. With more than 4,500 people worldwide, SDDC's headquarters officially relocated to its new home at Scott Air Force Base completing the actions mandated by BRAC 2005.
