FORT BELVOIR, Va. - The Belvoir Federal Credit Union had its 5th annual Installation Appreciation Day Saturday. And, once again, residents came away smiling.

Held between the Commissary and Post Exchange, parents and children braved a record-breaking heat index to have some fun in the sun. Besides free hot dogs and music, provided by Washington, D.C.'s classic rock station 105.9 The Edge, the BFCU had prizes and other giveaways, including a two-night stay at the Boars Head Inn.

Children also kept busy. Activities included a rock-climbing wall, moon bounce and face-painting. Members of Belvoir's fire department were also on hand to talk to families about fire safety and show kids what it's like to sit inside an actual fire truck.

"We had an outstanding turnout this year. We're just happy to see everyone having fun," said Tisha Hodge, a representative with the credit union. "A special thanks goes out to everyone with Belvoir's garrison command. This wouldn't have been possible without their support."

Installation Commander Col. John Strycula and Installation Command Sgt. Maj. Gabriel Berhane also stopped by to take in some of the action. Together, they said the installation has a wonderful relationship with the credit union and that they appreciate all they do for the community.
