Col. William A. Sanders accepted command of the 410th Contracting Support Brigade from Col. Ted C. Harrison in a July 8 change of command ceremony at the U.S. Army Medical Department Museum, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Brig. Gen. Joe Bass, commander of the Expeditionary Contracting Command, presided over the ceremony. ECC is a subordinate command of the Army Contracting Command.
The 410th CSB plans and executes contingency contracting support for U.S. Army South and U.S. Army North in support of Army and joint operations throughout the area of operations and, on order, provides contingency contracting support worldwide.
Prior to selection for command, Sanders served as the acquisition military assistant to both the Under Secretary and the Secretary of the Army. He has also served as the assistant product manager, Forward Looking Infra-Red; the APM for the Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System Project Manager Night Vision at Fort Belvoir, Va.; a Joint Contracting Chief, Operation Joint Forge, Bosnia, Croatia, Hungary; a field assistance division chief for the Defense Contracting Command, the deputy program executive officer for Special Programs, U.S. Southern Operations Command; and commander, Defense Contract Management Agency, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Sanders has managed 250 major defense contractors in support of the Department of Defense. In this capacity, he deployed to Southwest Asia and was honored as the 2008 Secretary of the Army Acquisition Commander of the Year.
Harrison's new assignment will be with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C.
