Well wishers, family and friends gathered at the Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Training Activity Center to witness the time honored tradition of a military change of command, as Col. Michael J. Rogers accepted command of the 408th Contracting Support Brigade from Col. Shane Dietrich in a June 25th ceremony.
Brig. Gen. Joe Bass, commander of the Expeditionary Contracting Command and a former 408th CSB commander, presided over the ceremony. ECC is a subordinate command of the Army Contracting Command.
The 408th CSB plans, coordinates and executes effective and agile contracting support within the U.S. Army Central theater of operations and serves as the USARCENT contracting advisor. The brigade prepares and coordinates the execution of contracting support plans, oversight, assessment, and acquisition authority to organizations operating in the USARCENT theater of operations.
Rogers' previous assignment was as the chief of staff, Pharmaceutical Operations Directorate, TRICARE Management Activity, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs in Falls Church, Va. Some of his recent assignments include: chief of the Europe Regional Medical Command Contracting Office, Landstuhl, Germany; deputy chief of staff for the Europe Regional Medical Command, Heidelberg, Germany; director of contracting at the North Atlantic Regional Medical Command, Washington D.C.; commander of DCMA-Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and the executive officer for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Policy and Procurement).
Dietrich's new assignment will be as the chief of staff for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
