Four Families on Fort McPherson were honored June 30 for their contributions to making the installation a little more eye pleasing.
The Families were awarded with plaques and approximately $250 in Army and Air Force Exchange coupons by Col. Deborah B. Grays, U.S. Army Garrison commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Karl Roberts, USAG command sergeant major.
The prizes, besides offering an incentive for other Families, will also hopefully encourgae winners to get more things to continue area beautification, Grays said.
The four winners did a variety of things to beautify their homes. Some, such as Area 2 winners Chief Warrent Officer 5 James Dixon, maintenance technician, U.S. Army Reserve Command G-4, and wife, Debbie, planted a variety of plants and did some painting.
Fellow Area 2 residents, Maj. Larry Kimbrall Jr., space operations officer, Third Army/U.S. Army Central G-31, and wife, Melinda, who won for most improved yard, Area 2, planted red, white and blue flowers, to give their home a patriotic feel.
No matter what was done, contest judges agreed that these Families deserved their awards.
