TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT, PA. - A Tobyhanna employee claimed top honors in a quarterly competition for establishing a pattern of excellence and increased effectiveness while working for the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Directorate.
Dawn Mitchell earned the Army Team C4ISR Employee of the Quarter Award for the second quarter of 2010. She is a program support assistant for the Signal Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Division.
"It is very rewarding to know how much my work is appreciated and recognized," Mitchell said. "I honestly don't know what I did to win the award. I just come into work every day and do what is asked of me."
As a secretary, Mitchell performs administrative and miscellaneous clerical work. According to the nomination package, she performs assignments normally assigned to personnel in the next higher grade level.
By developing and using tracking mechanisms, Mitchell tracks the status of about 80 deployed individuals for Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare (CREW) and more than 20 deployed individuals supporting Guardrail.
"My daily activities include processing forms for deployments and keeping databases up to date and accurate," Mitchell said. "I also schedule meetings, coordinate between various travelers and directorates, and ensure that travelers are ready and able to deploy."
Documents reveal that she has an outstanding turnaround time for travel vouchers and all documents associated with travel. On average, she processes 35 travel vouchers, 22 travel requests, 15 requests for overseas travel, 10 pay cap memorandums, 10 validation letters for Operation Enduring Freedom and 11 Foreign Allowances Applications on a monthly basis.
Taking care of the customer is something Mitchell takes seriously, often working long hours to accommodate their needs at various stages of deployment.
She helps people fill out the proper forms, instructs them on credit card usage and provides general rules regarding temporary duty travel.
Mitchell remarked that she couldn't have won the award without the help of her co-workers and deployed employees.
"We all work as a team. It's not just one person that makes our deployments and programs run smoothly."
