Quartermasters return to FT Lee after year in Afghanistan

FORT LEE, Va - The 267th Quartermaster Company (Petroleum Operating)redeployed from a year-long tour in Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism. While on their final deployment before inactivation, the 267th successfully conducted gun-truck escort operations in Bagram not only with no fatalities, but with seven of its' Soldiers receiving the Combat Action Badge for their efforts.

CPT Ricardo Jones and 1SG Marvin Martin (photo 0188), led over 168 Soldiers into the Post Field House Saturday evening and received thunderous applause not only from the friends and families in attendance, but BG Cross, The ScoE and QMC&S Commanding General, and CSM Hunt, the Regimental Command Sergeant Major . As the 267th marched in (photos 0170, 0171), they were honored by the American Legion Riders as well as Rick Raskin and Ron Link, two of the representatives from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) District 8, out of Manassas, VA (photo 0199).

The Hosts of the evening's ceremony was the 49th Group Commander, COL M.C. Stephen Cherry IV and the 49th Group Command Sergeant Major, CSM James K. Sims. They thanked everyone who supported the unit to include the VFW, the 267th FRG, and the many family members and friends before presenting the 267th Command Team with the new Group Coin for their hard work and dedication. (photos 0189 and 0190). The ceremony concluded with the Army Song, before sheer pandemonium took over in the form of cheering Soldiers and joyful family members, eager to embrace their loved ones. PFC Theodore Law, embraces his infant son, Quashone (Photo 0203) as loved ones look on. Another family, excitedly takes photos of a reunited SGT Tyler Dickens and his family (photo 0196), consisting of wife Cailn, infant daughter Ellie, and sons, Aidan, Shawn, and Joshua. SGT Tyler was excited, but was just "ready to spend time with his family".
