FORT SILL, Okla.--The laughter of children mingled with the sounds of motivation and encouragement from Soldiers as both took a day to enjoy fun and games during Judge Advocate General Day at Patrick Henry Elementary School May 20.

During JAG Day at the school, Soldiers of the 100th Brigade Support Battalion had the opportunity to spend time playing games and helping children understand the importance of staying active.

"This is the first time we have had one of these days and our goal was to instill in the kids, that physical activity can be fun," said Shauna Perry, physical education teacher and event organizer. "It is also our end of the school year celebration and it gives them a chance for camaraderie in a fun environment, a chance to play and work together."

Playing games with the children not only served benefits for the children but possibly also for the Soldiers.

"It has been very important for the Soldiers to come here, they serve as good examples to these kids. The Soldiers are just such positive role models and the kids just look at them in awe," said Perry. "I also believe that it helps the Soldiers as well. Many of them are far away from home and to have the kids appreciate them hopefully gives them a sense of pride for their service."

But for the Soldiers it proved to be more than just an opportunity to get out of the office for the day it proved to be something more personal.

"I will remember writing little things on their event cards like 'great job' or 'sharp shooter' and the kids would get so excited about the personal attention," said Spc. Brandon Fuller. "I even helped a little kid tie his shoes today, that's the stuff I'm going to remember."

At the end of the day as the children were packing up to go home, the Soldiers had their memories to take with them and hopes that maybe their fellow Soldiers will have the opportunity to share time with the younger generations.
