FORT RUCKER, Ala. -- Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation staff offer several on-post opportunities to treat dads during Father's Day this June 20.
Sports events include dads bowling free at Rucker Lanes Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. when accompanied by Family members or with a Blue Star Card.
Another option is the annual Father's Day Golf Scramble Sunday at Silver Wings Golf Course.
"This is going to be a fun event where there will be an opportunity for great parent-child involvement," said golf course Business Manager David Unsicker. "This will be a good time to gain valuable experience with the benefit of great Family time on the golf course."
The golf scramble is a Parent/Child Nine-hole tournament from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Prizes are awarded based on the number of golfers. Cost is $10 plus cart and green fees, if applicable. For more information, call 598-2449.
The Landing staff hosts a Father's Day Brunch Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring traditional brunch items along with a special Mongolian barbecue. All dads who attend are entered into a drawing for a grand prize giveaway. Cost is $16.95 for ages 13 and older, $6.95 for ages 6-12, $3.95 for ages 3-5 and free for children 2 and under. Jaclyn Escalera, wife of flight school student 2nd Lt. John Escalera, said she appreciated the variety of DFMWR Father's Day activities to attend.
"I think it is great there so many activities for Families away from home to participate in," she said. "I especially appreciate there are so many ways to celebrate Father's Day, whether it is a lunch out with dad or a taking dad golfing."
