PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - More than 25 distinct technologies from Picatinny Arsenal were showcased at the 2010 Joint Service Aviation Armaments Conference May 25-26 that included attendees from both the Army and Navy.

The 28 visitors from the aviation community experienced technology displays, presentations, a discussion panel and the chance to interact at length with technology subject matter experts.

Conference attendees also received an overview of the programs at the Armament, Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC).

Presentations on Program Executive Officer Ammunition, ARDEC and ARDEC's Science and Technology programs were given by senior Picatinny officials.

Four cutting-edge technology facilities were part of the conference tours: Prototype Integration Facility, Nano-technology Facility, Pyrotechnic Center and the Precision Armaments Laboratory.

Col. Ray Gentzyel, Aviation Systems Division Chief, Headquarters Department of the Army, G3/5/7, moderated a warfighter panel convened for the benefit of the Picatinny workforce to hear about current challenges in Special Operations, Hellfire Systems, Aviation Rockets, Small Guided Munitions and Army Aviation Gun Systems.

Brig. Gen. William T. Crosby, PEO Aviation, was the featured speaker on future developments in the aviation community.

Conference attendees had a chance to talk individually with the experts and identify potential areas of collaboration with ARDEC on armament technologies used for rotary wing, fixed wing and unmanned aerial systems. The conference served to open a communications channel among various agencies to potentially leverage future ideas and technology to benefit the warfighter.
