He stated, "We continue to take on the many challenges that we face today with extraordinary skill and devotion. We are proud of the fact that today our Soldiers are serving in the all-volunteer force demonstrating that the call to duty is not forgotten. These young men and women take a solemn oath to protect and defend the constitution of the United States and this great nation. As we cut this birthday cake today we celebrate 235 years of service.
