FORT RUCKER, Ala. -- The Fort Rucker community now has a faster, more convenient, way to sign up for activities.
Web Trac is a new online program that extends services over the Internet, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It provides real-time Internet access to applications for self-service inquiries and transaction processing, program registration, enrolling youth in different activities and making payments on outstanding bills or School of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration, and Skills Unlimited fees, according to Shavonne Harrison, Child, Youth and School Services functional technology specialist.
"This is a way for (Soldiers and Families) to sign up for bill payments or register children for activities without actually coming in to our office," Harrison said. "As of now, the CYSS end is up and running, but the recreation services are still being put together."
Parents wishing to sign children up for activities such as youth sports or SKIES Unlimited activities can visit https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil.
Registration for recreation services such as Auto Craft Maintenance, Skills, Arts and Crafts classes or payment on storage lots is not ready yet for patron use, Harrison said.
Web Trac is also available for Families moving from one installation to another, according to Pam Williams, CYSS coordinator.
"This is a global event for all garrisons," she said. "It's all about streamlining the process and what we can do to make it easier for (Families)."
Families can transfer their registration information from one place to another.
"We can import or export files for incoming or leaving Families using this program," Williams said. "It makes the transition period that much easier."
According to Harrison, Chandra Skinner, DFMWR information assurance security officer, is an essential part of the Web Trac development team. She helps ensure all transactions made through the program are safe and secure.
"There's a lot of behind-the-scenes security that goes into this," she said. "We are constantly monitoring who logs in and from where to make sure it's secure."
The nature of the transactions taking place is the reason for so much security, she added.
Patrons are using credit cards to pay bills and DFMWR's goal is to make sure Soldiers and Families are protected from potential identity theft or fraud.
"We watch very closely to make sure no false payments are made and we ensure that no double payments occur either," she said. "We also make sure everything is encrypted since we're using credit card transactions."
