FORT BELVOIR, Va. -- The U.S. Army Materiel Command has selected the 10 winners of its 2009 "Louis Dellamonica Award for Outstanding AMC Personnel."
The winners, who beat out 29 other nominated employees, were selected for the significant contributions they made to AMC's mission and overarching goals and objectives.
The nominees are judged on how their initiatives measurably improve their work environment, how they motivate and inspire fellow employees to improve or increase the quality of their own work, and how well they are viewed by peers, subordinates, and superiors.
"These 10 employees stand out as model employees and are truly the best of the best," said William Marriott, deputy chief of staff, G-1.
This award, formerly called the "10 Outstanding Personnel of the Year," was renamed in honor of Louis Dellamonica, a general engineer with AMC's Hawthorne Army Depot, Hawthorne, Nev. Dellamonica was both the oldest and longest-serving Department of Defense employee before retiring in January 2007, at the age of 94 with more than 65 years of service.
Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, AMC's commanding general, will present a certificate of achievement, four-star note, and plaque to each recipient at an awards ceremony at AMC's forward headquarters at Redstone Arsenal on June 25.
