RED CLOUD GARRISON, South Korea - When Chaplain (Lt. Col.) David Acuff, Red Cloud Garrison chaplain, came to Korea he wanted to get involved in a few good neighbor projects with the local community outside of the garrison.

A year later as Acuff began his out-processing due to permanent change of station orders, he had to say goodbye to a group of students from the Shinheung College University, May 18, in the garrison chapel.

Acuff began teaching the group of teachers, doctors, and professors a year ago after their previous American teacher Chaplain (Maj.) Wayne Garcia, former garrison chaplain, left.

Garcia taught a semester about Effective Communications.

Acuff partnered with Dr. Kang, Sung-hyun, member of the Shinheung College University faculty to develop a different class that would highlight Acuff's extensive knowledge about the Bible by teaching the Gospel John and 2 Corinthians.

"Studiare is the Italian word for students, it means one who is eager, and you all have been more than eager to learn from what I have had to say these past few months," Acuff said.

Having a chance to talk about communion and the importance it holds with Acuff and the class, he blessed bread and wine and gave it to students.

"Tuesday nights I fed you with word of God, but tonight I want to feed you the body and blood of God," Acuff said. "This right here is the greatest gift that I can give you, the bread of heaven."

Acuff thanked Shinheung College University for allowing him the chance to "show the light through darkness" for the students who were in the class.

After presenting everyone with a Bible with an inscribed personal message, he took the class to Mitchell's Club for dinner.

"We at Shinheung College University will never forget your kindness and generosity, Chaplain Acuff," Kang said. "You have been a blessing and left us with much to remember for years to come."
