FORT McCoy, Wis. -- Video production specialists from the Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in Warren, Mich., spent three days at Fort McCoy's Regional Training Site (RTS)-Maintenance recording a training video for Armywide release.
The subject for the video was the repair and maintenance of air-conditioning systems in tactical vehicles, such as high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV), mine-resistant, armor-protected vehicles (MRAP), and large trucks.
Maurice Peyton, an audio-video developer, and Robert Warren, a multi-media design technician, brought their video equipment to RTS-Maintenance to stage what is planned to be a 45-to 60-minute training video.
"Fort McCoy has the right training facilities and the technical experts we needed," Peyton said afterward. "Major Stephen Skelton and his crew went above and beyond to help us." Skelton is the RTS-Maintenance commandant.
"One of my co-workers suggested McCoy as the site," Peyton said. "I called Major Skelton and he was very interested in assisting."
Warren, the technician, said, "Major Skelton was 'right on point' and had everything ready to go. Everything ran smoothly."
Some of the video was set in front of an MRAP at RTS-Maintenance. Chief Instructor Sgt. 1st Class Chad Kleifgen served as the narrator, as Instructor Staff Sgt. Dan Schauf worked on the air-conditioning system under the opened vehicle hood.
Skelton introduced various segments, and the two sergeants rotated positions as narrator and mechanic.
"It went very well," Skelton later said. "TACOM said they plan to distribute about 10,000 copies to major commands in June. The video will be a great showcase and promotional tool to help get the RTS-Maintenance at Fort McCoy story out throughout the Army."
"We were selected over the active-duty site at Fort Lee," Skelton said. TACOM coming to Fort McCoy shows everyone that Army Reserve training is just as relevant as active-duty training under the Total Army School System.
