One great resource is the Army Spouse Employment Partnership. The purpose of this partnership between the Army and off-post companies is to provide jobs for spouses.
Next week, Fort Jackson's Employment Readiness Program is hosting an ASEP Awareness Fair to link eligible spouses with these companies. The event, which will have about 15 companies represented, takes place 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Main Post Chapel. Participants must arrive between 8:15-8:45 a.m., and are encouraged to bring resumes. Call ERP at 751-4862 to reserve a space.
The ASEP Awareness Fair is one of the many services offered by the ERP. Each month, there are numerous classes aimed at helping spouses, and other family members find jobs.
Classes include: a Careers-on-the-go/work from home seminar; Career Opportunities for Military Spouses; a resume writing/interviewing skills class; and a Steps to Federal Employment class.
ERP is also the place to go for details on the executive order passed last year that gives military spouses non-competitive appointment eligibility.
