YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea - The U.S. Army's top sergeant major and the senior American NCO in South Korea led an NCO run on Yongsan Garrison April 19.

Sergeant Major of the Army Kenneth O. Preston and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert A. Winzenried, command sergeant major of United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, U.S. Forces Korea and Eighth U.S. Army, led the run to build morale among the NCOs who came together from all over the Korean Peninsula.

A massive formation filled the three-mile route and the running began after the rendering of honors.

After the run, Preston expressed his gratitude to the NCOs.

"On behalf of the Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. George W. Casey Jr. and Secretary of the Army the Honorable John McHugh and all the senior leaders back at the Pentagon, thanks for what you do for our nations everyday and the sacrifices you make for your families," said Preston.

"By the sounding off with the cadence, the motivation, discipline, from what I've seen today, I already know the Army is in great hands."

The event concluded with a coin ceremony and photo opportunities.
