FORT BELVOIR, Va. - Members of the 249th Engineer Battalion, Society of American Military Engineers, Northern Virginia Post, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, family members and Clark Realty Builders Group donated skilled labor, materials, use of a forklift and countless hours rehabilitating Fort Belvoir's Scout Hut Saturday.

While the engineers handled the removal of a roll-up door and frame and electrical engineering, the Scouts were able to gain hands-on experience in removing wood beams, and metal framing. Muscles were tested mixing mortar, moving bricks and on basic framing and painting as they helped to complete a mini-makeover.

More than 300 hundred scouts and their families use the facility for scout projects that include clean-up and beautification events on and around the post.
