Outward Bound Programs for Veterans

By Ms. Karen V Nicholson (Community Covenant News)March 11, 2010

The Outward Bound program for Veterans offers adventure and self-discovery for veterans of combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The program helps veterans build a supportive community with other war veterans, facilitates discussions on readjustment and transition challenges, and re-energizes and reinvigorates veterans' spirits with outdoor adventures and challenges. The generous funding by the Military Family Outdoor Initiative Project, a joint partnership of The Sierra Club and The Sierra Club Foundation, The Anschutz Family Foundation, and The Disabled American Veterans makes these wilderness expeditions available at no cost to participants to include roundtrip stateside travel costs between home and the excursion site.
