Antiterrorism Family Awareness
What is it'
The Army's antiterrorism (AT) program protects Army communities against terrorist acts. Family members represent a special group included within our protection efforts. During the 3rd quarter, fiscal year 2010 (Q3/FY10,) the Army's AT awareness theme focuses on enhancing family awareness about the indicators of possible terrorist activity and how to report suspicious behavior.
Why is it important to the Army'
We recognize the commitment and sacrifices that our families make and the Army is committed to building a partnership with Army families. When informed about the threat of terrorism and empowered to help protect our communities against terrorism, Army families become an extension of our overall protection.
What is the Army doing'
The Provost Marshal General and Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, established quarterly AT awareness themes. The intent is to enhance AT awareness and vigilance across the Army (Soldiers, Department of the Army civilian employees, Department of Defense (DOD) contractors and family members of DOD employees). The current awareness theme (Q2 /FY10) is suspicious activity reporting.
What continued efforts does the Army have planned for the future'
As antiterrorism awareness products and tools are developed to support local communities, they will be posted and available on the Army Antiterrorism Enterprise Portal (ATEP). August 2010 is approved by the senior Army leadership as an Antiterrorism Awareness Month. Implementation of revised terrorist threat reporting procedures and publication of an Antiterrorism Field Manual (FM 3-07.2) will continue.
