In honor of Presidents' Day holiday weekend, Maj. Gen. Karl R. Horst, commanding general Joint Force Headquarters/ National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, placed the President's wreath at both the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, and at George Washington's Tomb in Mount Vernon, Va.
The Lincoln Memorial event took place Friday, Feb.12, 2010. The ceremony at Mount Vernon on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, celebrated WashingtonAca,!a,,cs 278th birthday.
"We are the face of the U.S. Army in the National Capital Region. It is appropriate that we are the ones representing the President as the oldest service to commemorate the birth of these two Presidents. The fact that we get to do it on a PresidentsAca,!a,,c weekend is pretty significant for us," said Horst.
