HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, Ga. - About 50 Servicemembers and civilians shared a mouth-watering breakfast at the Soldiers Inn Dining Facility at Hunter Army Airfield at 7 a.m., Feb. 4. The group gathered to remember the National Day of Prayer and the value that prayer has for our servicemembers on Hunter and for people in all areas of the world.

Lieutenant Colonel Jose Aguilar, Hunter Army Airfield garrison commander, opened with a reminder to continue to pray for Hunter servicemembers deployed from the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and other Hunter units supporting overseas contingency operations.

He also encouraged prayer for the 10th Transportation Company's humanitarian mission to Haiti,

as well as the people of Haiti.

Afterward, the new garrison chaplain, Chap. (Lt. Col.) Jay Hearn, introduced himself from the podium, along with the six other chaplains who are now assigned on post. He encouraged those present to reach out to them for counsel and assistance and pointed out that their names and phone numbers were included in the prayer breakfast program.

Chaplain Hearn also discussed the value of servitude and in putting others first. Chaplain (Capt.) Terry Hill followed his remarks with scripture about the armor of God and how it defends our faith.

Before the worship portion of the breakfast, Chap. (Capt.) Paul Ormond offered a strong prayer of protection and wisdom for our president, as well as a prayer of safety for our nation and community.

"The breakfast was awesome," said Yolanda Hingel, the spouse of a deployed 3rd CAB Soldier who attended with her daughter Paris, 10. "Paris was excited about coming. It was important to me that she sees the support her dad gets from our commanders - and that they're praying for him."

Yolanda, Paris, and a few servicemembers who attended sang praise songs and hymns as guitarist Bill Morris accompanied them on the guitar about midway through the service. Before the ceremony ended, Chap. (1st Lt.) Joseph Adams and Chap. (Capt.) Jeff McKinney offered up additional prayers for servicemembers and Family Members and read scripture.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked way, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
