CAMP BONDSTEEL, Kosovo -Soldiers from the 160th Finance Detachment, based in Phoenix, recently received special commander's coins - tokens of recognition for achievement - from Brig. Gen. Alan S. Dohrmann, commander, Multi-National Task Force -East; and Command Sgt. Maj. Jack W. Cripe, command sergeant major (MNTF-E), for their hard work, dedication and accomplishments while deployed.
Staff Sgt. Mark Faust, Poway, Calif.; Sgt. Richard Paul, Phoenix, Ariz.; Spc. Janet Baca, Las Lunas, N.M.; Spc. Jason Wells, Owensboro, Ky., and Spc. Frank Ramirez, Gilbert, Ariz., all members of the Arizona Army National Guard, are in Kosovo serving on a NATO peace-support mission.
The 160th Finance Detachment helps provide financial information and support to all Soldiers in the U.S. task force. Capt. William Abbott, Palmer, Alaska, is commander of the 160th Finance Detachment.
Faust works as a disbursing manager and operations noncommissioned officer. Both Paul and Baca work as finance-office cashiers. Wells and Ramirez work as Defense Travel Systems specialists.
Faust received recognition and a coin for his devotion to his mission along with dynamic leadership style which enabled him to obtain outstanding results from himself and his squad. He has also been dedicated to helping his Soldiers improve their physical fitness which resulted in helping a Soldier become promoted to the rank of specialist. Faust shows great pride and enthusiasm in every task he undertakes.
Paul, who also shows great pride and enthusiasm in every task, has exhibited a great understanding of his new job and has surpassed the expectations. Paul was also recognized at a military school he recently attended as being the only Finance School team leader to complete his mission completely without error.
Baca was recognized for becoming a subject-matter expert in cashier duties, always providing guidance to the other cashiers. During cashier training, Baca had a lot of influence on how the cashiers' standard operating procedures (SOP) were written. Baca was recognized as the top cashier at Ft. McCoy Finance School and also at the higher finance headquarters, 266th Finance Management Center, in Germany, during mobilization training. Her exceptional contributions helped foster a cohesive atmosphere among the disbursing section and unit members.
Wells received the award for showing outstanding flexibility and willingness to assist all sections of the finance section. He also assisted with others' duties while backed-up or out of the office.
Ramirez's award was achieved for his great customer service, performance and professionalism, while showing dedication to his work and completing his job superbly. Ramirez trained and mentored other Soldiers to make them more knowledgeable and proficient in their jobs.
"The 160th Finance Detachment is a critical element of Multi-National Task Force-East that proves itself worth and importance every day through knowledgeable, accurate and courteous financial support and counseling for U.S. Soldiers serving here in Kosovo," Dohrmann said. "The finance team is motivated and committed to service to our troops as demonstrated by their actions."
