FORT MONMOUTH, N.J. - Children and staff at Fort Monmouth's Child Development Center joined Soldiers and Army civilians to witness the re-signing of the Army Family Covenant.
"Today we renew our commitment to our family covenant," said Maj. Gen. Randolph Strong, commander of CECOM Life Cycle Management Command, at the Nov. 30 ceremony.
Also reaffirming their commitment at the ceremony: CECOM Command Sgt. Maj. Tyrone Johnson; garrison manager George Fitzmaier; and garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Linza Chapman.
The covenant is an agreement by the Army to its communities and families in maintaining and improving quality-of-life issues.
"You all play a role in carrying out the covenant, so I'd like to thank you," Strong said to all those attending the renewal.
Two years ago, Maj. Gen. Dennis Via, then-commander of CECOM, and Col. Stephen Christian, former Fort Monmouth garrison commander, signed the initial covenant. While organizational leadership may have changed, the pledge to care for families remains the same.
